It's OK that You're Not OK: Meeting Grief and Loss in a Culture that Doesn't Understand
by
Megan Devine
About this Title
A terrific book that was difficult to put down as the written words and phrases were so easy to understand as someone who has experienced grief. The author wrote from her own personal experience of suddenly losing her partner. The book is about understanding and helping one who is grieving by allowing them to grieve. This perspective can help anyone who is grieving. One of the key takeaways the author offers is giving yourself permission to grieve your loss your way. The author also shares how she believes culture and society put pressure on those that are grieving to return to "normal" and how truly hurtful and unhelpful that pressure is for someone who is grieving.
